Good questions
Frequently asked
The things people most often want to know about how NOCTÉ candles are made, what is inside them, and how to get the most out of a burn.
- What makes NOCTÉ different from other candles?
- Scale and intent. We pour in small batches, keep the range to four permanent expressions plus one seasonal edition, and build each fragrance to hold its character across an entire burn rather than only in the first ten minutes. The design is deliberately quiet so the candle reads as part of the room.
- How are the candles made?
- Each fragrance is composed and tested on the bench, then blended into a natural wax at a fixed temperature, poured by hand one vessel at a time, cured for fourteen days, and finished and checked individually before it leaves the studio.
- What ingredients do you use?
- A natural soy and coconut wax blend with no paraffin or synthetic hardeners, unbleached braided cotton wicks sized to each vessel, and fragrance compositions built from essential oils supported by IFRA-compliant materials.
- Is there an online store?
- No. This site is a showcase of the studio's work rather than a shop — there is no cart, checkout or pricing here. It exists so you can see the collection, understand how it is made, and get a sense of what the brand is about.
- How do I stay updated on new releases?
- Instagram and Pinterest are where everything appears first: pour days, new compositions, and each seasonal edition as it is released.
- How long does a candle burn?
- Our standard vessel gives roughly 45 to 55 hours depending on the fragrance and how it is burned. Longer, uninterrupted burns generally give a cleaner result than several short ones.
- How should I burn a candle for the best result?
- On the first light, let the wax pool reach the edge of the vessel — usually two to three hours. After that, trim the wick to about six millimetres before each use, and burn for no more than four hours at a time.
- Are there safety basics I should know?
- Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, curtains and anything that moves. Never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of children or animals, and stop burning once around ten millimetres of wax remains.
- How often is the seasonal collection released?
- Twice a year, in a run of a few hundred, tied to the season we are actually working through. Each edition is made once and not repeated — when it is finished, it becomes part of the archive.
- Can the vessels be reused?
- Yes, and we would rather you did. Once the candle is finished, warm the vessel gently, remove the remaining wax and wick tab, and wash it in warm soapy water. What it becomes after that is up to you.
